GitHub Overview
GitHub is a global software development platform. It empowers developers to remotely host & collaborate on projects. This connects teams from various locations & collectively codes or manages their next software installment. Here are some of their cool features:
• Pull requests to rope in assistance from other team members as & when required
• Convenient tools available at your disposal, ready to be utilised for your project management. This forms part of your ongoing portfolio
• Robust security measures to ensure a structured protective protocol in case of any untoward incidents, events, or breaches. Preventative tasks such as protected branches signed commits & status verification ensure this. Access control with specified permissions & authentication substantiates this.
• Flexible in-house or external agency hosting to satisfy individual preferences & needs
• Customisable & integrated API tools to build a bespoke process
There are a few issues though that you should look out for when considering whether to opt for this package:
• Despite the emphasis on security, there are flaws by using their servers which remain prone to abuse
• Potential cost: many features are subject to an additional SaaS charge. Businesses with their indigenous IT teams & servers fare better than users who are solely reliant on GitHub for these to reap the benefits
GitHub excels in its versatility with simplicity & convenience. Whilst it does make efforts to secure user data, it’s perhaps the reason why this is emphasized, owing to inherent gaps in its infrastructure. Overcompensation appears to be exercised here. In the case of usability concurrent with financial viability, it becomes evident that GitHub has monopolised this. The result? Well for larger enterprises who can resort to their own resources, not much impact. Nevertheless, the smaller startups & individual entrepreneurs may be harder hit with hefty accumulating fees…

GitHub - Not So Good
Using GitHub for the past few months has been a disappointment for me. It's too complicated for beginners, and the interface is clunky. It's difficult to find the exact features I need. The documentation is also not very helpful. I'm not sure I'd recommend it to anyone.
